Yesterday I received my first ever Glossy Box. Did I run down the stairs in anticipation?... Of course not, I clearly paced nonchalantly over to collect it.
Ok I lie. If you haven't been able to tell by now I'm pretty much a full blown beauty addict, and I painfully have to admit that I was probably comparable to a 5 year old kid on Christmas morning. Yup, it was that bad.
For those of you who don't know what a Glossy Box is...well, it's pretty much a box full of beauty products that gets sent to you every month for £10. If you're from the US, it's the equivalent to a Birch Box. The products are all supposed to be miniature, so you can sample new products, although I was very happy to find that I had two full size products in my box!
I have to say firstly that the packaging and design is absolutely lovely. A big plus is also that descriptions are provided for each product as well as discounts for each brand!
When you subscribe for a Glossy Box, you complete a 'beauty profile', so products are able to be matched to your requirements and tailored to you. This is great in theory, although from other bloggers boxes that I've seen I actually feel like I've missed out on some products I really would have liked.
My box included
Dead Sea Spa Magik Salt Brushing (sample size)
I don't think this product is anything too exciting, but I have coincidentally just run out of my body scrub, and so will definitely be using this in the next couple of days! I have heard good things about Dead Sea Spa, so I'll happily use this up.
HD Brows Eyes & Brow Palette (full sized product!)
A well known and respected brand in the industry, I was very excited to find this product in my Glossy Box and really can't wait to try it out. I'm not entirely sure of the cost of this palette, but I'm sure it would surpass the amount I paid for everything.
Kimia Exquisite Rejuvenating facial System
This is a brand that really interests me. My skin can be pretty problematic at times and I'm excited to try these samples out. One problem - they're pretty tiny! Don't get me wrong, the value of the other products Glossy Box has supplied probably makes up for this in value, but I don't think that justifies sending samples this small. This is something I have a bit of an issue with.
Neal and Wolf Harmony Intensive Care Treatment (Full sized product!)
This product normally retails for £12.95, an unbelievable steal! I haven't heard of the brand before, but I'm definitely glad this was included and can't wait to try it out.
Plum by Mary Greenwell Eau de Parfum
I think this was probably my least favourite product. Apart from again the very small sample size (someone did ask me why I had payed for something I could get for free), I just didn't like the smell of this perfume. But of course that's just personal preference.
So is it worth it? I absolutely love the concept. It's always nice to have this as a lovely surprise each month and in regard to price I would say the two full size products I received are worth a lot more than what I payed for the whole box. Still, some of the small sample sizes did annoy me as you really could just go up to a counter and ask for these for free. However, overall I'm happy with my purchase and can't wait to see what next month's box will bring.
What do you think? Would you pay for a Glossy Box?

Wow! Everything looks great! :D
ReplyDeleteRougeberry Fashion
That is a really cool concept and I'm shocked that I had never heard of it until now. I would absolutely love to get something like that in the mail once a month but then again- hesitate that I wouldn't be happy with what I paid for (I am stubborn when it comes to new brands of beauty products and swear by what I use...). Let your readers know how you continue to feel about it. It sounds a bit like christmas.
ReplyDeleteyou've made me want to venture into glossy box goodness now!! :) love a good salt scrub! xx

Melmo - Exactly ...and I'm a bit of a sucker for things like this! :p
