Hope everyone had a great Halloween! I personally dressed up as a superhero and looked pretty daft...and not very scary at all :p How did you guys spends your Halloween? On a bit of a different topic though I wanted to do a post today about a trend I'm sure many of you would have noticed a building up over the past year, which has gathered a great deal of momentum in the past few months...BEAUTY BOXES.
A quick explanation: You subscribe online to get a box sent to you every month usually with 5/6 miniature size products from various brands inside.

They seem to have sprung up everywhere, and I have to admit they are a genius idea. To have a box
full of products arrive at your doorstep for the somehow universally decided price among many of
these company of £10...is not exactly something many of us would turn away. I myself have fallen
head over heels for this massive trend in the beauty world and ordered a subscription to the well
known Glossy Box (review here).

Whilst I was happy with my first Glossy Box and received another for October (which is at home,
waiting to be collected when I go home this weekend from university!...oh and of course to see family
and friends :p) I'm always on the lookout for something a bit different and better. Whilst Glossy Box
do deliver and with style, they now also have some fierce competition which is sadly attracting me like
a moth to a flame. Just so you can get a better idea (and for my own browsing purposes) I'm going to
lustfully show you the many more companies that have since cottoned onto this idea.

*Latest In Beauty*
Like Glossy Box, Latest in Beauty want to provide products that are right for you, and so
recommenced products once you fill out the required information. A tiny bit of effort, but a big plus in
terms of not ending up with any old beauty sample that you'll have no use for. Where this company
differs from a lot of the others though is that you select the samples from their website. So there goes the element of surprise. I know this will appeal to many, but for me I think the whole concept really relies on some element of surprise. The massive upside to Latest in Beauty though is that they are the
exception to the rule when it comes to price, charging a mere £1 for three items a month...but I'm assuming the size of the products would be very miniature.
*Boudoir Prive*
Boudoir Prive are definitely on a par with Glossy Box, not only in terms of their popularity, but also with their packaging and design (which weirdly seems to be almost identical). Boudoir Prive offer 5/6 'deluxe' size samples each month and boast a lot of great brands, such as Korres and Agent Provocateur. What makes them stands out further is that they offer a variety, so if you're looking to try out different things, from skincare to perfume... to tea (yup tea), then they're right for you. I have to say I'm really interested to try this box out!
*Feel Unique*
Feel Unique is probably the most excited I have gotten about a beauty box, without feeling a little sad. If you've never heard of Feel Unique, they are an online beauty retailer that sell a massive amount of lovely brands...I would not recommend visiting this website though, for the sheer fact that it will take a lot of strength not to buy something.
But onto the box: because of the brands Feel Unique sells, it means they supply amazing products for you to try out. The concept is again the same, you get a monthly subscription for the box which will contain 5 products that seem to be randomly selected. I personally think this a great box, purely because of the brands and quality products you're getting for £10.
* Carmine*
And...lastly the newest of the bunch. Carmine offer again the same concept and with some lovely brands like The Balm, Caudalie and Daniel Sandler! What makes me like Carmine is that they stand out from the crowd...they are finally the first company I have seen to use a colour that is not black and pink! If you scroll back a little you'll see this is a running theme with every other box and, well it's a little repetitive. Asides from this I'm also in love with their website which is down to earth and contributed to by some of my favourite beauty bloggers.
...So last week I made the bold decision to cancel my subscription to Glossy Box and order a box from Carmine, a review will of course be featured soon! :)
Have you tried out a beauty box? If so I'd love to know your thoughts.

Yhose boxes look so good!
ReplyDeleteThese have finally arrived in South Africa as well, but they're only available to pay via credit card online, and I don't like paying via card online so I'll wait until other payment options (such as paypal or direct deposit) are available for it.
