So I'm finally back into the world of blogging and I thought I'd start April off with a review of Revlon's latest craze: ColourBurst Lip Butters! Heading back for the holidays from uni yesterday, I got to London and decided a trip to Boots was definitely in order to keep the dissertation motivation going :p I've been lusting after these for probably a little too long and finally caved, happily picking up Peach Parfait and Tutti Frutti...two lovely, vibrant shades for spring.
I was actually surprised they were in stock as their recent release and popularity has meant they have been sold out pretty much everywhere...obviously this rare sighting meant there was no excuse not to get one. Unfortunately though there were only about five shades, but luckily for me Peach Parfait and Tutti Frutti were top of my list to try! Revlon's packaging as usual also drew me in, the quilted pattern makes for a lovely classic look and the different coloured transparent cases made me want to buy every single shade!
Price-wise, at £7.99, I would say it's reasonable and what you would expect from a high street brand such as Revlon. If you live in England, there is also a very tempting 3 for 2 offer on at Boots at the moment!
Upon actually opening the lip butters I was met with the most lovely smell. Hints of chocolate and vanilla are subtly present, which I completely loved. The texture and consistency of the lip butters are just so smooth and glide on like a dream. Revlon describes them as, "buttery balms with a beautiful shiny colour to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips", which I do agree with, although I would say that they aren't as hydrating as a normal lip balm would be...but still do a pretty good job!
Peach Parfait is an absolutely lovely dark pink shade with subtle gold sheen and glitter. Once applied I have to admit it came out a little darker than I expected, but as my lips are already quite pigmented I may try this again with a thin layer of concealer before hand to get the 'true' colour. The gold in it is subtle and absolutely lovely, I really think this a great colour to wear day or night and is perfect for some (hopefully) sunny days ahead!
Tutti Frutti is a rich coral shade which doesn't disappoint. I don't usually go for this colour but it's just lovely for summer and would look stunning with a tan. It comes out as a pretty light reddish-orange that would go with most skin tones.
In terms of pigmentation, with one layers it creates a subtle but lovely colour that you can see below. If you keep on layering the lip butter it can be built up into a brighter and bolder shade. I can't really comment on how long they will last on the lips (having just bought them yesterday), but there was no budging for the couple of hours of wear I tried.
Overall, the only downside to the Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butters I can think of is they don't seem to be as hydrating as they claim...then again I do suffer with dry lips, so on other girls the balm side to these 'lipsticks' may be perfect. All in all I think I may have found a new product love just in time for spring/summer...don't be surprised if more shades are reviewed soon!
Have you tried Revlon's ColourBurst Lip Butters?
What's you favourite shade? :)

Welcome back:)
ReplyDeleteThat Peach Parfait looks awesome. I have really dry lips as well, but might give this a go. Great review.
Aw thanks Emmy :) They are great, I would definitely recommend trying xx
ReplyDeleteI wear Berry Smoothie!! I love these lip butters but my friend said it wasn't as hydrating as Clinique's Chubby Sticks. I haven't tried them, but if you did/have, let me know! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat reviews!

I definitely want to try berry smoothie as well and I've heard quite a bit about Clinique's Chubby Sticks but have yet to try them. Yeah that was the only disappointing part that they weren't as hydrating as I thought they would be, but still a lovely product :) xx
Deleteso cool i want to try it. what do you think about baby lips? have you tried that. I'm thinking about buying it. - amirajsfashiondiaries.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI don't actually think we have Maybelline baby lips in the UK which is a shame, maybe it'll be released soon, but I definitely want to try them :) xx
DeleteI've been looking forward to trying these but I haven't had the courage too. But now that I have a review, I might just do it.

ReplyDeleteLet me know how you get on with them if you do :) xx
DeleteLip butters are all the rage right now and can you believe it? I've not tried it! I love that tutti fruitti colour!!!
ReplyDeleteOh you definitely should, they're worth trying and I really recommend tutti frutti :) xx
DeleteThese are lovely! I prefer tinted lipbalms to lipsticks (lipsticks are just too much) so these would be perfect! I wonder if these come in a more beige colour...?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my blog :)
